Stowe Yacht Club

Here in Stowe we have been sailing the Soling since before 1993, when the class was first sanctioned by the AMYA. The first 30 sail numbers in this class were issued to Stowe skippers.

On Mondays and Wednesdays we start racing around 4:45pm and sail as many races as possible before 6:30pm or the wind gives out. With this schedule that gives us a series total of around 250 races per season! This past season we had an average of 7-8 boats each night. Scoring is based on a nightly, monthly, overall series and individual basis, but its really the warm camaraderie of the group that keeps everyone coming back.

SYC has won the Interclub Regatta, held at Worchester, Mass, for the last three years. We're looking forward to this year's Interclub Regatta, usually held in late September, hoping to win it and thereby retire the present trophy.

The Stowe Yacht Club sails on a 3 1/2 acre pond behind the Commodores Inn.
